National C Badge AchievementsOn Saturday the 19th of June Jodie Hopkins and Ashley Sheridan, members of Brunswick Byron Netball Association, successfully completed their practical examination to obtain their National C badge in Umpiring.
Ashley who is just 16 years old has umpired for the past three years and Jodie has been umpiring regularly over the last two years. Both Jodie and Ashley have been umpiring at numerous Saturday games, representative carnivals and also attending coaching days to assist in their preparation for this practical exam.
To be eligible for a national C badge they had to first pass both their theory examination and their level one accreditation. On the day the ladies had to umpire a normal Saturday game and were practically assessed on their umpiring skills by an umpiring panel.
Now that they have successfully passed their National C badge, they are eligible to umpire at State and State Age Championships. If they wish to, they are also eligible to sit for their National B badge which enables them to umpire at a State League level for NSW.
This is a great achievement for Jodie and Ashley and they make a valuable addition to Brunswick Byron Netball Association as badged umpires. Umpires are vital for our competition because without them we cannot play the game.
